"To recognize the salience and importance of the earlier stages is how integral consciousness is different. While it may talk about globalization and say we are the riders of planet Earth together, it will say: "I'm also French". I'm also in my tribal family, whatever that is. I'm also, I'm also - so that ethnicity and identities aren't lost. In fact the extent to which they are maintained healthy is the extent to which the global system will be healthy." Welcome to the web site of the Integral Finland, a Finnish community for those interested in Ken Wilber's integral theory or integral philosophy and integral studies in general, and for those interested in just living an integral life. The aim of Integral Finland is to be a forum that connects us in Finland who have found our ways to integral thinking and integral practicing through our various personal ways. Integral Finland was founded in 2009. Currently its main offering is this web site that introduces Wilber's integral theory and the five-element AQAL model in Finnish, introduces integral applications from around the world, acts as a bulletin board for integral activities in Finland and around, and provides an online discussion forum for Finnish-language conversations on integral theory, integral practice, and integral life. At the moment we are in the process of just getting the word out about this community and forum. Later on, we might be interested in organizing national integral events and to provide space for local interest groups or study circles ("integral salons") to organize themselves. There are already a number of online integral communities and forums on the web. Despite that, we feel that there is a need for an integral community for a specifically Finnish audience to provide a space for discourse on the integral approach to become rooted in the Finnish language and in the Finnish culture. This is why this article is more or less the only one you will be able to find in English on this web site. For the rest of this web site, we aim to have quality texts on integral topics written by Finnish authors as well as texts translated into Finnish from other languages, mainly from English. The discussion forums provide space for free, non-edited (but moderated) conversation. If you are new to the integral approach altogether, there are a number of resources available to explain it in English, such as:
